JOB OVERVIEW: The Induction Funace Engineer responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of induction furnaces used in copper melting and refining. This role involves managing heat treatment processes, energy efficiency, safety compliance, and ensuring high-purity metal production. The engineer will work closely with production, maintenance, and quality control teams to maximize furnace performance, reduce downtime, and improve overall manufacturing efficiency. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Furnace Operation and Process Control; - Operate and monitor medium- and high-frequency induction furnaces for melting and refining copper. - Control temperature, power input, and electromagnetic stirring to ensure uniform melting. - Oversee loading, melting, refining, and casting processes to maintain production efficiency. - Monitor copper purity (99.99%), slag removal, and oxidation control to reduce impurities. 2. Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting: - Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on furnace components (induction coils, refractory lining, cooling systems, transformers). - Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and thermal faults in induction heating system. - Ensure timely replacement of refractory lining and furnace insulation to prevent material loss. - Troubleshoot cooling system failures coil overheating, and electrical discruptions. 3. Energy Optimization & Cost Efficiency: - Optimize power consumption and heating cycles to reduce energy costs. - Implement waste heat recovery systems to improve thermal efficiency. - Develop strategies to reduce metal loss, minimize slag production, and improve furnace output. 4. Quality Control and Compliance. - Conduct spectrometric and chemical analysis to verify copper purity and alloy composition. - Work closely with quality control teams to analyze defects, ensure casting accuracy, and improve product consistency. 5. Continuous Improvement & Technical Innovation. - Analyze furnace performance data to develop process improvements and cost reduction strategies. - Participate in furnace upgrade projects, including refractory material selection, coil design enhancements, and energy-efficient modifications. -Train and mentor operators and maintenance personnel on best practices for induction furnace operation. QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS: -Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or any related fields. - 5 years or more experience in induction furnace operation preferable in copper manufacturing. - Hands-on experience with medium/high-frequency induction melting furnaces. - Prior experience in metal refining, energy optimization, and process troubleshooting. - Strong knowledge of PLC-controlled furnace automation, SCADA, and process monitoring systems.
