Internship for Teaching

Internship Overview: The ELT internship program is designed to give participants an opportunity to help develop and curate a positive learning environment and study abroad experience for international students. Under direct supervision and guidance of the senior teacher/Academic Manager, undergraduate and graduate students in the internship program will benefit from: Practicing and applying ELT/TESL/TEFL coursework in a real classroom environment. Assisting teachers in face-to-face classrooms with instructional activities and monitoring students. Assisting teachers with lesson planning and curriculum development. Improving communication skills and professional development through bi-monthly training for teachers. Opportunities for co-teaching or facilitating large groups, small groups, and/or one-to-one classes. Opportunities for curating and/or facilitating cultural exchange and speaking activities outside the classroom. Learning Outcomes Gain practical experience in ELT through the planning and implementation of research and standards-based lessons and instructional activities to help meet students’ learning aims. Apply linguistic and pedagogical concepts learned in coursework in real-world contexts. Identify productive approaches to managing unengaged students. Use pedagogical concepts and knowledge of culture to plan activities that encourage student participation, promote inclusivity and diversity, and facilitate mutual cross-cultural learning and understanding. Engage in self-assessment to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement.
