Who You Are:You are a highly skilled CNC programmer with at least 5 years of hands-on machining experience and strong proficiency in English. You excel at CAM programming for CNC machines, specifically positional 5-axis (3+2) machining setups. Experienced with Fusion 360 and HAAS brand vertical machining centers would be preferred. You have the capacity (or willingness to learn) to program Keyence Vision Systems for automated quality checks. You enjoy independently tackling technical challenges, optimizing processes, and working in an R&D environment that demands quick iteration and precise problem-solving. You communicate effectively with local and global teams, focusing on efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement. You have experience with many material types including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and plastic.

The Role:As the CAM Programmer for our Fastlane R&D Program, you will:

  • Create and optimize CNC programs in Fusion 360 for Haas 3+2 axis machining centers, utilizing our AutoCAM technology.
  • Review drawings and create quality plans, creating FAI forms and creating Keyence Vision System inspection programs
  • Collaborate remotely with machinists, operators, and R&D teams, receiving guidance on our process, and providing feedback where needed for continuous improvements.

Your main goal is to deliver completed CAM programs and quality plans same-day - without being physically present where the machines or inspection systems are located. You will rely on digital communication tools (video calls, screen sharing, messaging platforms) to coordinate with team members, address issues, and integrate updates swiftly into the manufacturing process.

Objectives and Responsibilities:Day-to-Day Operations

  • Complete Fusion 360 CAM Programming
  • Select the appropriate strategy for successfully manufacturing the part.
  • Generate all CNC programs using our AutoCAM technology for HAAS 3axis machining centers with + 2 trunnions and robotic tending.
  • Using our predefined workholding methodology
  • Using appropriate processes for in-machine deburring using brushes, chamfer tools, and other methods.
  • Manage tool libraries, feeds, and speeds, ensuring each operation is optimized for performance, and the ability to locate specialty tools outside of the library which are available from our US-based suppliers.
  • Verifying the quality of the CAM program to ensure the successful manufacture of the part the first time.
  • Haas 3+2 Axis (Positional 5-Axis) Coordination
  • Troubleshoot any machine-related issues virtually, advising on changes to programs or part orientations.
  • Quality Plan Creation
  • Generating FAI documentation around a quality plan that you create.
  • Bubble drawings
  • Populate dimensional data and tolerances.
  • Determine features that can be measured with the Keyence Vision System, and which require other hand measurement methods.
  • Programming the Keyence Vision System using STEP files and DXF.
  • Remote Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving
  • Analyze and resolve machining or inspection issues through digital communication tools.
  • Propose design or process improvements if recurring issues appear.

Fastlane R&D Focus

  • Discovery Phase Iteration
  • Experiment with toolpaths, cutting strategies, and fixture designs to support rapid development of our AutoCAM application.
  • Document all findings, including successes, failures, and potential improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Regularly review processes, update standard operating procedures, and share best practices with global teams for consistent, high-quality results.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Scaling CAM Programming
  • Lead efforts to consolidate CAM tasks in Vietnam, maintaining high-quality control and turnaround speed standards.
  • Global Collaboration
  • Work with domestic engineering teams and R&D managers to ensure cohesive design-for-manufacturing strategies, balancing cost, lead time, and quality.
  • Communicate with local operators, engineers, and R&D teams in English via video calls, emails, and messaging apps.
  • Adapt your schedule to overlap with other time zones as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven Fusion 360 CAM Expertise
  • Experience generating complete CNC programs (Milling) for part production.
  • Experience with 3+2 Axis Machining and Programming
  • In-depth understanding of positional 5-axis programming, fixture orientation, and setup strategies.
  • High Proficiency in English
  • Strong communication skills for remote collaboration (video calls, email, messaging).
  • Quality Planning
  • Experience with quality inspection methods including not limited to, thread gauging, calipers, micrometers, angle gages, radius gages, and more.
  • Keyence Vision System Programming (or ability to learn quickly)
  • Capability to create or maintain automated inspection routines.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset
  • Quick to diagnose and implement solutions in a fast-paced, R&D-focused environment.
  • Autonomy & Efficiency
  • Comfortable working independently on multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HAAS CNC Machining Centers
  • Experience working with a US-based team
  • 5-Axis Simultaneous CNC Programming
  • Quality Control / Audit Experience (GD&T, ISO/AS standards)
  • R&D / Prototyping Background (iterative design, quick turnaround)
  • Team Leadership / Mentoring Experience
