Job Overview: The Staff Nurse or Medical Assistant in the Emergency Room (ER) provides direct patient care, assists in medical procedures, and ensures that all activities are carried out with the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and patient care. This position is crucial in delivering quality, timely, and compassionate care to patients in critical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:
  • Assess, monitor, and record patients' vital signs, symptoms, and medical history.
  • Provide emergency medical care, administer medications, and assist in treatments under the supervision of a doctor or senior nurse.
  • Respond to emergency calls promptly, ensuring patient safety and stability.
  • Assist physicians and other medical professionals during medical procedures and surgeries.
  • Medical Assistance:
  • Prepare and maintain patient records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Take patient samples (blood, urine, etc.) and prepare them for lab testing.
  • Perform basic medical procedures, such as wound cleaning, applying bandages, and taking X-rays.
  • Handle medical equipment, including diagnostic tools, ensuring that all tools are functional and sterilized.
  • Patient Support:
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families, explaining procedures and treatment plans in a compassionate manner.
  • Assist in transporting patients to different departments or wards as necessary.
  • Ensure that all patients’ needs, including comfort, hygiene, and privacy, are met during their emergency care.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Assist in triaging patients based on the severity of their condition.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to critical cases, assisting in life-saving interventions when needed.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation, including patient assessments, treatments, and procedures, are recorded accurately.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, other nurses, medical assistants, and hospital staff to ensure effective care delivery.
  • Report patient status and changes in condition to the attending physician or charge nurse.
  • Maintain clear and concise communication with the rest of the medical team during busy and high-pressure situations.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Certifications:
  • For Staff Nurse: Registered Nurse (RN) with valid licensure in the state of practice; BSN preferred.
  • For Medical Assistant: Certification in Medical Assisting (CMA or RMA) preferred; relevant clinical experience may be considered.
  • CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred for more senior positions.
  • Post Basic In ER is an added advantage
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience in an emergency room setting or fast-paced healthcare environment is highly preferred.
  • Experience with patient care, triage, or basic medical procedures is beneficial.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to handle high-stress, emergency situations with professionalism and composure.
  • Proficient in the use of medical equipment, patient care documentation, and computer systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented and dynamic environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM2,600.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
