In process safety, you are expected to coordinate with third-party specialists and clients to execute key safety studies, such as HAZOP, HAZID, Hazard and Effect Management Process (HEMP), and other related assessments. You will also be responsible for developing and finalizing deliverables, including closeout reports. In fire safety, the role involves performing both basic and detailed engineering and design activities for Fire Fighting systems, including hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, network modelling using PipeNET, and preparing fire layout documentation. Key Responsibilities: Process Safety Coordination 1. Coordinate with Third Parties and Clients: Act as the primary liaison with appointed third-party consultants executing studies such as HAZOP, HAZID, Hazard and Effect Management Process (HEMP), Remedial Action Plan (RAP), Bowtie Analysis, Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) Analysis, Fire and Explosion Risk Assessment (FERA), ensure timely and accurate communication between stakeholders. 2. Deliverables Management: Review and ensure quality of reports generated by third parties and prepare and finalize closeout reports for all safety studies. Report to the Client on required data, progress updates, status, challenges, and proposed solutions for the way forward. 3. Development of Process Safety Documentation: Develop and maintain the Hazardous Area Classification (HAC). Prepare the Design Basis for process safety studies. Fire Safety Design Engineering 1. Firefighting Design: o Conduct the firefighting study based on fire case scenarios and prepare the Firefighting Design Basis. o Perform firewater demand, hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing for firefighting systems. o Conduct network modelling and analysis using PipeNET software. o Develop fire layout drawings and related documentation. 2. Compliance and Standards: o Ensure all designs comply with relevant fire safety codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, API, local regulations). o Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integration of firefighting systems into the overall plant design. 3. Client and Stakeholder Engagement: o Participate in meetings with clients to gather requirements and provide technical clarifications. o Address comments and resolve issues related to firefighting and process safety engineering.
