Job Overview: We seek a Competent Person certified under the CePSWaM program to manage, supervise, and ensure compliance with industry standards in water and sewerage systems operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the safe and effective management of water treatment processes, sewage systems, and associated infrastructure. This role demands a deep understanding of technical standards, regulatory frameworks, and operational procedures for the water and sewerage industry. Key Responsibilities: 1. Supervision and Monitoring: - Supervise the operation, maintenance, and repair of water and sewerage systems, ensuring compliance with national standards and regulations. - Ensure all procedures related to water treatment, sewage disposal, and pipeline maintenance are adhered to and meet health and safety standards. - Conduct regular inspections of water treatment plants, pumping stations, and sewerage systems to ensure proper functioning. 2. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: - Ensure compliance with the Environmental Quality (Sewerage) Regulations 2009 and Water Services Industry Act 2006, as well as local government and environmental regulations. - Submit reports and documentation to regulatory bodies as required, ensuring adherence to relevant licensing and safety protocols. - Act as the main liaison between regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders. 3. Training and Guidance: - Provide on-the-job training for operational staff to ensure competency in handling water treatment and sewerage operations. - Oversee the implementation of health, safety, and environmental management procedures in all water and sewerage projects. - Assist in training new employees to meet CePSWaM certification requirements. 4. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: - Identify and troubleshoot operational issues in the water and sewerage systems, ensuring immediate corrective actions are taken to prevent service disruptions. - Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve complex technical problems and improve operational efficiency. 5. Documentation and Reporting: - Prepare and maintain accurate records of operational activities, maintenance schedules, and equipment performance. - Document any changes or modifications made to existing systems or infrastructure. - Prepare and submit routine performance and compliance reports to senior management and relevant authorities. Qualifications and Requirements: 1. Certifications: - Possession of a valid CePSWaM certification, with the relevant competencies in water and sewerage management. - Additional certifications related to water treatment and waste management will be an advantage. 2. Education: - Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. 3.
