Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified Competent Person for Scheduled Waste to oversee and manage scheduled waste in compliance with Environmental Quality Act 1974 (Scheduled Waste Regulations 2005). The candidate will ensure proper waste handling, storage, disposal, and regulatory compliance while promoting sustainability and environmental best practices. Key Responsibilities: Scheduled Waste Management: Ensure proper identification, labeling, storage, and disposal of scheduled waste in accordance with DOE (Department of Environment) Malaysia regulations. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with all local and international environmental laws, including documentation, reporting, and permit applications. Waste Minimization & Sustainability: Develop and implement strategies for waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability initiatives within the organization. Training & Awareness: Conduct training sessions for employees on scheduled waste handling procedures, emergency response, and environmental best practices. Audits & Inspections: Perform internal audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and safety. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain up-to-date records of waste generation, disposal, and compliance reports for regulatory submissions. Emergency Response: Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans related to hazardous waste spills or environmental incidents. Collaboration: Work closely with regulatory authorities, waste disposal vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient waste management. Requirements: Certification: Must be a Certified Competent Person for Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWaM) by DOE Malaysia or equivalent certification. Education: Diploma/Degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in scheduled waste management, environmental compliance, or related fields. Knowledge: Strong understanding of Scheduled Waste Regulations 2005, Environmental Quality Act 1974, and other relevant guidelines. Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with attention to detail. Proficiency: Familiar with scheduled waste labeling, reporting (E-SWIS), and management systems. Safety & Compliance Mindset: Strong commitment to workplace safety and environmental sustainability. Preferred Qualifications (Optional): Experience working in manufacturing, oil & gas, chemical, or heavy industries. Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System.
