We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Data Scientist I to join our dynamic Operations Research team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of data-driven solutions to optimize various airline operations, including but not limited to flight scheduling, crew planning, revenue management, and ground operations. Responsibilities:
Collaborate with senior data scientists and operational teams to understand business problems and translate them into analytical questions.
Clean, transform, and prepare large datasets for analysis using SQL and other relevant tools.
Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms to address specific business challenges.
Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
Communicate findings and recommendations effectively through clear and concise presentations and reports, tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of data pipelines and infrastructure.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science and machine learning techniques.
Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas to improve operational efficiency.
Assist in the deployment and monitoring of models in production environments.
Adhere to strict data governance and security protocols.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
0-2 years of experience in a data science or analytics role (internships count).
Strong programming skills in Python or R, including experience with relevant libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn), C+ is a plus
Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and querying.
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Understanding of statistical modeling techniques, Operation research techniques and Mixed Integer Programming
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong work ethic and a passion for data-driven decision-making.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure) is a plus.
Experience in the airline industry or a related transportation sector is a plus.
