Job Overview:
The Head of Carpentry will oversee all carpentry operations, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship, timely project completion, and adherence to safety standards. This role involves managing a team of carpenters, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining efficient carpentry processes throughout construction or renovation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of carpenters to ensure high-quality work is completed on time and within budget.
- Oversee the planning and execution of carpentry tasks, including the construction of structures, cabinetry, doors, windows, and other woodworks.
- Review and interpret blueprints, sketches, and project plans to ensure carpentry work is aligned with the design and specifications.
- Manage inventory and procurement of materials, ensuring they are available when needed and meet quality standards.
- Ensure all carpentry work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with project managers and other team leads to ensure smooth project progression.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any carpentry-related issues that arise during construction.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure that carpentry work is being carried out according to the plan and up to standard.
- Provide training, development, and performance feedback to carpentry team members.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and safe use of tools and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a carpenter with several years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and building codes.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
