JOB RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SENIOR LEGAL EXECUTIVE

  • Vet and draft contracts, and other documents which have legal implications to the company and ensuring compliancy with the applicable laws and regulations.
  • Execute any ad hoc projects or requests as and when required by HOD/the management (including company secretarial related matters).
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across the business units to ensure contract management activities are up to date.
  • Manage and continuously improve the overall contract management system, including advising contractual strategies, and accordingly review a wide variety of contracts and contract templates.
  • Advise and manage the trademark portfolio which includes carrying out trademark searches and liaising with the external lawyers in relation to the selection, use and registration approach of new trademarks, timely filing of all necessary documentation to register and continuously maintain the registration of trademarks.
  • Advise and manage all claims, disputes and litigation across regions that Company may have against third party, as appropriate, and liaise with the external lawyers to defend the Company against such claims, disputes and/or litigation.
  • Research and keep updated with changes in laws to ensure that company transactional structures, documentation, policies and contract management processes remain current and commercially appropriate and effective.
  • Conduct legal research to support information and cases provided to the business units.
  • Liaise with the regulatory bodies and government agency.
  • Provide knowledge sharing on legal related issues/ laws internally.
  • Manage database of legal documents and administrative operations of the Legal Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws or LLB from a reputable university
  • At least 2-3 years working experience; preferably as a practicing lawyer and in house legal counsel.
  • Admitted to the High Court of Malaya
  • Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in relevant legal areas, particularly in the financial industry.
  • Possess sound understanding and working knowledge of commercial and corporate law particularly in land laws, companies’ laws and preferably familiar with the Financial Services Act 2013.
