Role Description

We are looking for aspirational data engineer to join our growing data team. As junior data engineer in Dattel, you will involve in design, build, and maintain ETLs across multiple data stacks and warehouse. You will also collaborate with data architects to develop data schema for multiple data layers in our data solutions.

You will be working in a multidisciplinary team and working closely with product owner, software engineers, data analysts, machine learning engineers, and business users to deliver data insights in timely manner to drive Dattel’s product offerings and strategy roadmap.

Responsibilities:

• Translate and elicit business requirements and logics to technical solutions.
• Collaborate with solution architect and data architect to develop conceptual and physical data models aligning with the business needs.
• Build data products, including APIs, data pipelines, data streaming, data modelling and visualization to serve both Dattel’s product offerings and internal data consumption.
• Take ownership of the end-to-end data solution design and development, including modelling, ETL, scripting, visualization, testing, deployment, monitoring and logging, validation, debugging, backup and data archiving or purging.
• Develop abstract and highly optimized logic and models to meet business requirements.
• Collaborate with governance officer to ensure data lineage, protection, security and privacy across development and operation cycles, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as Dattel’s data protection policies and standards.
• Develop technical documentation and training materials to support both technical and business end-users to expedite maturity towards data literacy across Dattel as an organization and its business partners.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data models, pipelines, and data operations.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in data engineering working with technology stacks such as Python (and its data processing libraries), Spark, Scala, etc.
• Familiarity in data ETL/ELT tools such as Airflow, Oozie, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Talend, EAI, etc.
• Familiarity in scripting languages like bash, PowerShell, etc.
• Familiarity in databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc.) and database design
• Strong foundation in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Ability to use code versioning tool such as Git and Github.
• Knowledge in DataOps and/or DevOps is preferred.
• Knowledge in data lake and warehousing tools like ADLS, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Cosmos is preferred.
• Knowledge in business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Quicksight is preferred.
• Knowledge in microservices such as Docker, Kubernetes is a plus.
• Knowledge in NoSQL is a plus.
• Knowledge in IaC and CI/CD tools (e.g. GitAction, Jenkin, etc.) is a plus.
• Possess relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Engineering or any other relevant discipline is preferred.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, in a fast paced and demanding environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Problem-solving aptitude.
• Self-starter.
