The FP&A Centre of Excellence (COE) is dedicated to providing high-quality insights and performance management, supporting Smith & Nephew’s Life Unlimited mission. Established as a world-class, coordinated FP&A organization, the COE collaborates with business units to drive efficiency and effectiveness through streamlined processes and sophisticated tools.

Within the COE, the International Business Unit Cluster FP&A Analyst is key in delivering financial insights and decision support to senior leadership, particularly for Asia’s AWM Finance Analyst. The role involves core FP&A activities such as budgeting, forecasting, and financial appraisals while collaborating closely with Finance Business Partners, Controllers, and GBS teams to ensure flawless finance operations. Reporting to the FP&A Director – International Business Unit, the analyst is encouraged to drive continuous improvement, embrace a learning mindset, and navigate priorities within a matrix organization.

What will you be doing?

  • The FP&A Analyst plays a critical role in producing insightful reports to support decision-making, identifying opportunities and risks, and analyzing market sales and pricing trends. They drive budgeting and forecasting processes for assigned geographies, collaborating with Cluster Finance Business Partners to achieve financial targets. The role also involves supervising performance against budgets, explaining variances, preparing journal entries during month-end close, and providing ad-hoc project support as needed.
  • In addition to core FP&A responsibilities, the analyst helps establish best practices for FP&A processes, ensuring data accuracy and significant reporting. They contribute to continuous improvement efforts and drive digitalization initiatives to improve efficiency and insights. Compliance with information management practices and key controls, including SOX requirements, is crucial to maintaining financial integrity and safeguarding confidential information.


What will you need to be successful?

  • The ideal candidate holds a degree, with CPA, CIMA, or ACCA qualifications preferred. They should have at least five years of experience, including three in a relevant role, supporting finance leaders in strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Experience in a commercial or manufacturing financial environment with cost control responsibilities is crucial. Proficiency in consolidation and BI systems is required, with knowledge of HYPERION HFM, COGNOS, and SAP ERP being helpful.
  • Key proficiencies include strong analytical skills, a proven understanding of accounting and finance, and a passion for business and industry trends. The candidate should have hands-on experience in business finance, project management, and presentations. Independence, initiative, and the ability to challenge the business when vital are crucial, along with a continuous learning mindset. Proficiency in English (C1+) is required. The role is hybrid-based, with minimal travel of less than 10 %
