RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:
- To perform metallographic test and onsite material inspection including In-Situ metallographic (replication), hardness test and positive material identification (PMI)
- Perform jobs assigned by the engineer or supervisor about hands-on operation for the sample preparation including cutting, cross-cut, etching and specimen preparation and laboratory tests for failure analysis and mechanical lab
- Able to commute to ad-hoc laboratory and/or replication work during weekends and public holidays if necessary
- To obtain and analyse the microstructures from the replicate and/or moulded sample using a metallurgical microscope at the laboratory and/or at site activity
- To prepare inspection/laboratory report using an established format
- To assist engineers/supervisors in completing work activities timely, efficiently, and satisfactorily
- Perform assigned tasks by engineers or supervisors with minimal supervision and report/discuss the results in a timely manner.
- Upkeep and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory
- Able to work independently and carry out 5S
- Perform any other responsibility as assigned
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Candidate must possess at least an SPM or Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical), Engineering (Material Science), Science and Technology or equivalent
- At least 1 year(s) of working experience in the related field
- Strong metallurgical and/or chemical background or similar working experience in oil and gas conducting in-situ metallographic (replication) and hardness tests and interpreting the result
- Preferably Non-Executive specialising in Science & Technology /Laboratory/operations or equivalent
- Good communication and well-versed in basic Microsoft Office applications
