Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the implementation and practice of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) policies in the factory according to ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other related regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and reports to identify workplace hazards, unsafe work practices, and hazardous equipment or facilities. This includes monitoring PPE, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, hose reels, lifting gear, gas equipment, welding machines, rotators, scaffolding, forklifts, etc.
  • Assist the Safety and Health Officer (SHO) in managing and coordinating ESH training.
  • Assist the SHO in conducting safety assessments.
  • Support the SHO in monitoring compliance with the company’s 12 Non-Compromising Rules.
  • Assist the SHO in monitoring legal requirements, including:
  • Periodical chemical exposure monitoring
  • Baseline and annual audiometric testing
  • Occupational Health Doctor (OHD) medical examination reports
  • Support the CePSWaM management team in monitoring scheduled waste implementation related to workplace safety.
  • Assist the SHO in conducting safety audits (external, internal, and client site visits).
  • Enforce daily safety compliance, addressing safety violations, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, housekeeping, and 5S implementation.
  • Monitor daily high-risk activities, ensuring adherence to SOPs for lifting operations, vehicle speed limits, jacking activities, and other critical tasks.
  • Perform monthly safety inspections, including fire protection, electrical installations, chemical material handling and storage, ventilation, lighting, machinery, and gas storage, as well as eye wash station checks.
  • Inspect permit-to-work compliance for confined space entry, hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), jetty loading, blasting, and painting.
  • Conduct toolbox briefings and safety inductions for workers, ensuring a focus on workplace hazards and safe work practices in fabrication work.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine and high-risk tasks.
  • Maintain and manage Safety and Health Department documentation according to company requirements.
  • Assist the SHO in investigating incidents, identifying root causes, suggesting improvements, and preparing reports.
  • Conduct hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control measures (HIRARC) for routine and non-routine tasks.
  • Participate in safety discussions and activities, providing ideas and solutions for improving workplace safety.
  • Perform any other tasks related to Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) as assigned by the company.

Competency Requirement

  • Education: Minimum SPM / Diploma with OSH Coordinator Certification.
  • Experience: 1-2 years in safety or security management, with experience in safety coordination, risk assessment, and incident reporting.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiar with DOSH, DOE, and Bomba regulations, as well as OSHA and other workplace safety standards.
  • Security Awareness: Understanding of access control, surveillance, and emergency response procedures.

Skill

  • Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia (written & verbal).
  • Ability to write reports and conduct incident investigations.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, risk assessment, and compliance standards.
  • Experience in managing safety and security documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with employees, management, and external authorities.
  • Ability to identify risks and implement preventive safety measures.
