IT Administrator (Cyber Security) (m/f/d)
We are seeking a skilled IT Administrator with expertise in networking, virtualization (VMware), Windows Server, and Linux OS, combined with a strong focus on defensive cybersecurity. This role is critical in maintaining and optimizing IT infrastructure while implementing robust security measures to protect systems, data, and networks from potential threats.
As part of an interdisciplinary support team, you will work alongside Software Developers, Database Administrators, and IT Administrators to ensure secure, efficient, and high-performing IT operations. The ideal candidate is proactive, security-minded, and comfortable collaborating across technical disciplines to enhance overall system resilience.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer and secure IT systems, networks, and virtualization environments to ensure high availability and performance.
- Maintain and optimize VMware virtualization environments, ensuring security best practices are in place.
- Manage and support Windows Server and Linux environments, implementing hardening measures for enhanced security.
- Monitor system performance and security logs, proactively identifying and mitigating threats.
- Implement and enforce security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security risks.
- Respond to, investigate, and document security incidents, ensuring timely mitigation and escalation when necessary.
- Deploy and manage security tools, such as intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and endpoint protection solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Software Developers, Database Administrators, and IT Administrators) to align security best practices with system operations and application development.
- Develop and maintain incident response plans and security policies, ensuring effective cyber resilience.
- Support second-level troubleshooting and escalations, working closely with first- and third-level support when necessary.
- Train and support end-users on cybersecurity awareness, helping to foster a security-first culture.
- Stay up to date with emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies to continuously enhance security posture.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an IT Administrator, IT System Engineer, or similar role with a focus on cybersecurity.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Linux OS administration, including security hardening techniques.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27001).
- Experience in log analysis, security monitoring, and SIEM solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and respond to security incidents effectively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, ensuring security is embedded across IT and business functions.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, Linux+, Microsoft Security certifications).
- Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools for threat detection.
- Knowledge of intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), firewalls, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Familiarity with private cloud security practices and best practices for securing virtualized environments.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for automation and security tasks.
