The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving workplace safety programs in compliance with Malaysian safety regulations (DOSH, OSHA 1994) and industry best practices. This role ensures a safe working environment by conducting risk assessments, safety training, and enforcing policies in a food manufacturing setting.

1. Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Malaysia's Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA 1994) and other relevant regulations.
  • Liaise with DOSH (Department of Occupational Safety and Health) and other authorities for inspections, audits, and licensing.
  • Maintain and update safety-related documentation (e.g., SOPs, permits, audits).

2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control

  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identifications, and job safety analysis (JSA).
  • Develop and implement control measures to reduce workplace accidents and injuries.

3. Incident Investigation & Reporting

  • Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and non-compliance incidents.
  • Recommend corrective actions and follow up on implementation.
  • Maintain accurate records of workplace injuries, illnesses, and safety performance reports.

4. Safety Training & Awareness

  • Organize and conduct safety training sessions for employees, including fire drills, PPE usage, first aid, and chemical handling.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through awareness programs and toolbox meetings.
  • Ensure all employees understand food safety protocols and workplace safety regulations.

5. Emergency Preparedness & Response

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including fire safety and evacuation procedures.
  • Conduct regular emergency drills and ensure all employees are trained in emergency response.
  • Coordinate with local fire departments, medical teams, and emergency services.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian OHS regulations
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple departments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
