The School of Education at Sunway University welcomes interested candidates to submit their resume for the above stated vacancy with the following job specifications: General Duties The postholder will be expected to play a leadership role in developing MQA-accredited taught and research programmes, especially at postgraduate level (online and conventional delivery). The postholder is expected to provide leadership in and contribute to the teaching, research and general administration, support and management of the school and institution. The postholder will also be expected to engage actively in activities to develop or enhance their teaching, research and/ or professional expertise relevant to their profession or discipline area. Specific Duties Research: • Conduct research, publish journal articles, conference papers and other peer reviewed outputs in relevant subject disciplines, and secure funding to support their research. • Supervise student research projects, including Doctoral and/or Masters students. • Lead research centres and/ or teams of academic and research staff, participate in collaborative research projects, ensuring high quality research is carried out to the highest ethical standards in line with relevant regulations, policies and procedures. • Engage proactively with the wider research community in their fields of study, promoting their own research and the academic reputation of the University. Teaching: • Develop and deliver MQA-accredited taught and research programmes, especially at postgraduate level. • Initiate and lead on the design, development, delivery, review and enhancement of the programmes, ensure lectures, tutorials and other teaching and learning activities are appropriate to their discipline. • Assess student work and progress, providing constructive and timely feedback. • Invigilate and moderate examinations and assessments, and contribute to Subject and Programme Boards. • Regularly review the effectiveness of their teaching, and proactively seek ways to improve the quality and effectiveness of their teaching. Service: • Participate constructively in Department, School and/ or University committees, and undertake leadership roles within the department and school, such as Head of Department, Programme Leader or other equivalent roles. • Help to arrange and participate in internal and external events, such as open days, outreach activities, visits to partner institutions and internship placements. • Support and assist senior colleagues in ensuring the smooth running of the department and programmes, and mentor junior colleagues. • Provide academic counselling to students, referring them to other support services as required. Requirements • PhD in Education in one of the following specializations: Early Childhood Education, Leadership and Management in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Measurement and Evaluation in Education, or Sciences/ Mathematics in Education. • Minimum 8 to 10 years of teaching experience at the university level. • Experience in supervising PhD and Master's students to completion. • Proven ability to design and deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses. • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community. • Ability to mentor junior faculty members and contribute to staff development. • Strong leadership, coordination and communication skills. • Excellent track record of research and publication in high-impact, Scopus/WoS-indexed journals. • Proven experience in leading interdisciplinary research projects. • Excellent teaching evaluation. • Excellent knowledge in pedagogical methodologies. • Pleasant personality.
