Job description The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving workplace safety programs in compliance with Malaysian safety regulations (DOSH, OSHA 1994) and industry best practices. This role ensures a safe working environment by conducting risk assessments, safety training, and enforcing policies in a food manufacturing setting. 1. Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Compliance Ensure compliance with Malaysia's Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA 1994) and other relevant regulations. Liaise with DOSH (Department of Occupational Safety and Health) and other authorities for inspections, audits, and licensing. Maintain and update safety-related documentation (e.g., SOPs, permits, audits). 2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control Conduct risk assessments, hazard identifications, and job safety analysis (JSA). Develop and implement control measures to reduce workplace accidents and injuries. 3. Incident Investigation & Reporting Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and non-compliance incidents. Recommend corrective actions and follow up on implementation. Maintain accurate records of workplace injuries, illnesses, and safety performance reports. 4. Safety Training & Awareness Organize and conduct safety training sessions for employees, including fire drills, PPE usage, first aid, and chemical handling. Promote a strong safety culture through awareness programs and toolbox meetings. Ensure all employees understand food safety protocols and workplace safety regulations. 5. Emergency Preparedness & Response Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including fire safety and evacuation procedures. Conduct regular emergency drills and ensure all employees are trained in emergency response. Coordinate with local fire departments, medical teams, and emergency services.
