NETWORK ENGINEER

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Network Engineer to join our team in Malaysia. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in network routing and switching, along with experience in troubleshooting, managing data center equipment, and working with third-party vendors. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle user tickets, monitor network performance, and ensure the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. NETWORK MANAGEMENT

  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Perform regular network performance monitoring, optimization, and capacity planning.

2. DATA CENTER OPERATIONS

  • Manage and maintain data center equipment, including servers, storage (e.g., DELL), and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMWare).
  • Perform hands-on tasks such as racking, cabling, and configuring hardware.
  • Ensure data center equipment is up-to-date and address obsolescence issues.

3. USER SUPPORT

  • Handle and resolve user tickets related to network and system issues.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT teams.

4. MONITORING AND REPORTING

  • Set up and maintain network monitoring tools to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and resolutions.

5. PROJECT COLLABORATION

  • Liaise with third-party vendors and service providers for projects, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and solutions.

6. DOCUMENTATION AND COMPLIANCE

  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.

TECHNICAL SKILLS & SOFT SKILLS

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Expertise in Firewalls, VPNs, and security protocols.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, PRTG, SolarWinds).
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and ticketing systems.

SOFT SKILLS

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATES

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

EXPERIENCES

  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in network engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of network routing and switching (e.g., CISCO, Juniper).
  • Experience with data center equipment, including DELL storage and VMWare virtualization.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues.

CERTIFICATIONS (PREFERRED)

  • CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certifications.
  • VMWare certifications (e.g., VCP).

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Willingness to work on-site at data centers and occasionally outside regular business hours for maintenance or emergencies.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
