Job Overview The School Counsellor will work together with the school teachers and staff to create a supportive environment for students. The school counsellor’s responsibilities include developing and implementing a counselling programme to assist students to discuss their problems, thoughts, and feelings in a confidential setting; helping students to adjust to the school culture; achieve better academic results; career planning; skills development, completing administrative tasks and working with school administers to plan and carry out school related programmes and events. Responsibilities and Duties · Plan, develop and manage the overall School counselling programme and strategy · Listening to students’ concerns and provide support and guidance on how to deal with problems regarding social, academic, or personal circumstances · Assist students in developing coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and goal-setting techniques. · Provide individual and group counselling to students · Provide talks, workshops and implement programmes for personal development of students · Conduct assessment to determine student’s strengths, weaknesses, interest, and aptitudes. · Mediate and improve relationships between students, parents and teachers. · Refer students to other support services and mental health professionals as needed. Qualifications and Requirements · Master Degree or Bachelor Degree in Counselling · Minimum 2 years of experience as a School Counsellor or similar role · Experience in dealing with students from various culture background (preferable with international students) · Holds a valid counsellor license · Experience in handle special needs child · Excellent collaboration and written and verbal communication skills. · Great networking and interpersonal abilities. · Strong planning skills, vision, and creative intelligence. · A passion for education.
