Open to candidates, 35 years old and below. Role Purpose A Ramp Services Agent is vital to the efficient and safe handling of aircraft and baggage operations on the airport ramp. They perform various tasks that ensure aircraft are ready for departure and arrival on time, with all safety protocols adhered to. Main Accountabilities General • Conduct pre-use inspections of equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs. • Assist in guiding and positioning the aircraft to and from gates, using communication signals and ensuring adherence to safety zones. • Install and remove safety equipment such as wheel chocks, safety cones, and coordination for aerobridge as needed to secure the aircraft during ground operations. • Assist in visual inspections of the aircraft exterior for any damage or irregularities and report findings to the maintenance team. • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to ramp safety regulations. • Ensure all ramp services tasks are completed within the specified time frames to support on-time aircraft departures and arrivals. • Communicate effectively with the flight crew and ground support teams to coordinate the timely servicing and departure of aircraft. • Promptly report any incidents, accidents, or operational issues to the Ramp Lead Agent, providing detailed documentation as required. • Ensure that all interactions with passengers, airline representatives, and other stakeholders are conducted professionally and courteously. • Work collaboratively with other ramp agents, lead agents, supervisors, and ground support staff to ensure smooth and efficient ramp operations. • Coordinate with team members to ensure tasks are distributed effectively and all operational activities are covered. • Follow environmentally sustainable practices, such as proper waste disposal and fuel management, to minimize the environmental impact of ramp operations. • Ensure all ramp activities comply with environmental regulations and company policies related to sustainability. • Be familiar with and ready to execute emergency response procedures in the event of an incident or operational disruption. • Provide support during emergency situations, such as assisting in evacuations or managing operational adjustments, to ensure safety and continuity. • Seek and apply feedback from supervisors and peers to improve performance and efficiency in ramp operations. • Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to ramp services and operational safety. • Ensure that all baggage is handled carefully and transported to and from the aircraft and baggage claim areas without damage. • Operate various ground support equipment (GSE) such as tugs, belt loaders, baggage carts, and aircraft towbars, following safety guidelines and operational procedures. • Perform basic cleaning tasks within the aircraft cabin, such as tidying seats, removing trash, and restocking supplies, to prepare the aircraft for its next flight. • Assist passengers with baggage handling and provide directions or information as needed to enhance their travel experience. • Maintain accurate records of activities performed, including baggage handling, equipment use, and service completion, for operational reporting and compliance. Baggage Make Up and Break Down • Safely and efficiently load and unload passenger baggage, cargo, and mail from the aircraft's cargo holds. • Sort baggage and cargo for loading based on flight schedules, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to and from aircraft. • Use baggage tracking systems to ensure all items are accounted for and delivered to the correct destination. • Conduct security inspections of baggage and cargo as required, ensuring compliance with aviation security standards and preventing unauthorized items from being loaded. • Assignments to baggage or ramp operations will be made according to the allocated duty roster, which is based on the operational requirements for the month, week, or day. • To perform transit baggage screening. Qualifications, Competencies & Experience • With a minimum of SPM or Certificates in a relevant field or equivalent. • Experience in roles involving physical labor, machinery operation, or logistics can be beneficial. • Ability to operate ground support equipment (GSE) such as tugs, belt loaders, baggage carts, and aircraft towbars safely and efficiently after being trained by the company. • Knowledge of and adherence to safety regulations and protocols related to ramp operations and equipment handling. • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 32 kilograms), stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and manual handling. • Capability to work in physically demanding environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions and noise levels. • Understanding of ramp operations, including aircraft servicing, baggage handling, and cargo management. • Familiarity with aviation security regulations and the importance of adhering to security procedures. • Good verbal communication skills for coordinating with team members and other stakeholders. • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, maintaining effective communication and cooperation in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to assess and respond to operational challenges quickly and effectively. • Capability to identify and resolve issues related to baggage handling, equipment malfunctions, or operational delays. • Careful attention to detail in tasks such as baggage sorting, equipment operation, and adherence to safety protocols. • Ability to ensure accuracy in loading and unloading processes and in maintaining operational records. • Willingness and ability to assist passengers with baggage handling and provide courteous service. • Commitment to maintaining high standards of service quality and operational efficiency. • Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of a 24/7 operational environment. • Ability to adapt to changing operational needs and manage tasks under varying conditions. • Understanding of and commitment to following local, national, and international aviation regulations and company policies. • Must meet airport security requirements and pass background checks for access to restricted areas. • Awareness of environmentally sustainable practices and a commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of ramp operations. • Understanding of and adherence to environmental regulations related to ramp services. • Dependability in reporting to work on time and consistently fulfilling job responsibilities. • Maintaining a professional attitude in interactions with colleagues, passengers, and other stakeholders. • Completion of any required training programs related to safety protocols, equipment operation, and ramp procedures. • Obtaining certifications specific to the airport or airline’s operational requirements, such as competence car driver’s license for airside driving permit or Dangerous Goods handling training. • Familiarity with emergency response procedures and readiness to act effectively during operational disruptions or safety incidents. • Ability to support the team during emergency situations, ensuring safety and operational continuity.
