Job Summary: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Debt Collection Specialist to join our Credit Operations East/KL team. This role focuses on managing debt collection activities for Shell operating units, specifically for Indonesia SFS and HB (Fleet Cards and Homebase). The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams and customers to ensure timely payments and maintain a healthy accounts receivable portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform proactive and reactive debt collection activities for Indonesia SFS and HB accounts.
  • Collaborate with Sales Managers, OtC, and Credit/Cash Analysts to manage overdue accounts.
  • Make collection calls to customers, follow up on delinquent debts, and arrange payment plans.
  • Communicate professionally with internal and external customers to resolve collection issues.
  • Maintain a high-quality accounts receivable portfolio by minimizing past due amounts.
  • Reconcile customer accounts to identify and resolve unpaid open items.
  • Manage the order block list and release orders with appropriate justifications and approvals.
  • Ensure timely resolution of debits and credits on customer accounts through payment or internal adjustments.
  • Negotiate settlements when open items cannot be resolved or are uneconomical to pursue.
  • Coordinate the resolution of complex disputes in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor customer payment performance and exposure, addressing credit limit concerns.
  • Provide monthly commentaries for metrics and participate in MILO meetings.
  • Support special projects or tasks as assigned.
  • Foster teamwork and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Implement and maintain a self-development plan.
  • Ensure full compliance with Shell and SBO standards, guidelines, and control frameworks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in debt collection or credit operations (Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; knowledge of Indonesian is an added advantage.
  • Skilled in professional and effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Experience in reconciling customer accounts and resolving unpaid open items.
