At Tong, we strive to provide excellent dining experiences. We are seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and maintaining sanitation standards. The ideal candidate should have a passion for culinary arts, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu planning and development, incorporating new and exciting Asian-fusion flavors and techniques
- Lead the kitchen team in the preparation and presentation of all food items, ensuring consistency and quality
- Supervise and train the commis chef, providing guidance and feedback to ensure their ongoing development
- Manage kitchen inventory, ordering supplies and ingredients as needed to maintain efficient operations
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards and regulations
- Collaborate with the bar team to create pairing menus and special promotions
- Monitor food costs and labor expenses, implementing cost-saving measures as needed
- Maintain a positive and productive working environment, fostering teamwork and communication among kitchen staff
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Sous Chef or similar role and open to work in a small team.
- Strong knowledge of Asian & Western fusion cuisine and cooking techniques.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a kitchen team, including training and development.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong culinary skills and creativity in menu development and food presentation.
- Proficient in kitchen equipment and inventory management.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.
