Job Scope: Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of control systems and instruments used in various industries, such as manufacturing, control valves, oil and gas, power generation, and chemical processing.
- Installation and Commissioning: You will install, calibrate, and configure control systems and instruments, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, valves, and actuators. This involves mounting equipment, connecting wiring, and configuring parameters to ensure proper functionality.
- Maintenance and Repair: You will perform routine maintenance on control systems and instruments to ensure they are operating efficiently and accurately. This includes conducting inspections, cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn-out components. In case of malfunctions or breakdowns, you will troubleshoot the systems and instruments, identify the root cause of the issue, and repair or replace faulty components.
- Calibration and Testing: Control and Instrument Technicians are responsible for calibrating instruments to ensure accurate measurements and control. This involves adjusting settings, verifying accuracy against known standards, and documenting calibration activities. Additionally, you will conduct testing and validation of control systems to ensure they meet specified performance standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Accurate record-keeping is essential in this role. You will maintain comprehensive documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, calibrations, and testing performed on control systems and instruments. This information helps in tracking equipment history, analyzing trends, and generating reports for compliance purposes.
- Safety Compliance: Control and Instrument Technicians must adhere to safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment. You will follow safety procedures when working with electrical systems, hazardous materials, or in potentially dangerous environments. Additionally, you may participate in safety audits and inspections to identify and rectify potential safety hazards.
- System Upgrades and Optimization: In some cases, you may be involved in upgrading or optimizing control systems and instruments to improve performance, reliability, or efficiency. This may include implementing software updates, integrating new technologies, or recommending system modifications based on operational needs and industry advancements.
- Collaboration and Communication: Effective communication and collaboration with colleagues and other departments are important. You may work closely with engineers, maintenance teams, production personnel, and management to understand requirements, coordinate activities, and provide technical support.
