The Food & Beverage Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and guiding the front-of-house staff to ensure an exceptional dining experience for all guests. You will act as a key point of contact for the team, assisting with day-to-day operations, ensuring service standards are met, and motivating the team to deliver outstanding hospitality in line with the restaurant’s high standards.
THE JOBSCOPE
- Lead and motivate the front-of-house team, ensuring staff are engaged and delivering the best service possible.
- Oversee daily shift operations, ensuring the restaurant runs smoothly, efficiently, and in line with quality standards.
- Assist in managing team schedules, monitor attendance, and adjust staffing levels to accommodate business needs.
- Ensure guests receive top-tier service by monitoring staff performance and providing feedback on how to improve service delivery.
- Set the tone for professionalism and high standards, ensuring staff consistently follow established service protocols.
- Resolve guest concerns and issues in a calm, efficient manner, ensuring every guest leaves satisfied.
- Support the Food & Beverage Manager in coordinating dining room operations, ensuring food and beverage orders are served in a timely manner.
- Assist with the opening and closing of the restaurant, ensuring all operational procedures are followed.
- Monitor and ensure that all service areas are clean, well-organized, and fully stocked.
- Help train new hires and provide ongoing development for team members to ensure they are knowledgeable about the menu, wine pairings, and service standards.
- Foster a team-oriented culture by providing guidance and support to staff and promoting teamwork.
- Ensure that health, safety, and hygiene standards are consistently maintained throughout the service areas.
- Ensure compliance with alcohol service laws and ensure staff adhere to safety and food safety regulations.
- Engage with guests to ensure their dining experience exceeds expectations, recommending menu items, and handling any special requests.
- Develop a rapport with regular guests and encourage repeat business by providing personalized service.
- Handle guest feedback, both positive and negative, and escalate issues to the appropriate manager when needed.
- Assist with inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels of food, beverages, and service items.
- Help monitor the condition of dining room equipment and report any maintenance or replacement needs.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure orders are prepared and served as per guest requests and specifications.
- Communicate effectively with other departments (such as the bar and kitchen) to ensure smooth service flow and resolve any service issues that arise.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a food and beverage service role, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory position in a fine dining or upscale setting.Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- In-depth knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including wine service and food pairings.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and remain calm under pressure.
