We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Vice President, AML Independent Validation Statistician - C13 (Hybrid) (Internal Job Title: Model/Anlys/Valid Officer - C13) based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The AML Independent Validation (IV) provides assurance that the Bank's AML tools are well controlled and fit for purpose. IV operates independently of the tool development departments to ensure the objectivity of the validation process.
The Lead Validator will be responsible for overseeing validations conducted by junior and inexperienced validators, sharing knowledge, providing feedback and on-the-job training how to conduct validations effectively and create high quality reports.
Lead Validator will play central role in day-to-day interactions between IV and other stakeholders (Tool Sponsor, Technology).
The Lead Validator will drive the discussion about methodology and process improvements and will update IV processes, procedures and standards accordingly.
The successful candidate is expected to execute with a high level of integrity, quality and attention to details, and to communicate with junior validator and IV stakeholders in a clear, understandable manner both in writing and verbally.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee independent validations of AML Tools conducted by Junior and inexperienced Validators
- Coach, guide and support Junior Validators, give directions, ensure quality and consistency of analyzes and reports to grow Junior Validators into Validators able to conduct validations independently
- Think outside the box and look for new methods to constantly improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the AML Detection, Monitoring and Operations systems and processes used in Citi
- Use statistical knowledge and experience to generate and implement new ideas aimed to improve validation process
- Maintain an industry leading knowledge of the tools, systems and processes available for best-in-class AML Detection and Monitoring Operations
- Collaborate with IV stakeholders, facilitate communication with the tool sponsor and technology
- Distribute validation reports and consult results with tool and business owners and other stakeholders such as senior management
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- Very good English language skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, through all levels of the organization.
- Ability to share feedback, knowledge and lead by example.
- Experience in reporting the results of analysis in clear written form, and in presenting the outcome verbally.
- Statistical/data analytical skills - including both calculation and interpretation of outcome.
- Programming and statistical/data analytical skills in at least one of the following: Python, SAS, R, SQL.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, and Data Marts/Data Warehouses.
- At least master’s degree in statistics/mathematics/technical science. Degree in economics/banking/statistics/mathematics/technical science may be considered if strong analytical skills proved.
- Good understanding of AML Program and AML monitoring platform.
- Ability to work non-standard business hours (including weekends and holidays, if necessary) as determined by business needs.
