Position: Resident Engineer (1 Year Contract) Salary: RM 5000 Working day: Mon to Fri (weekends be on standby) Working Hours: 9 am to 6 pm (there is a need to do night migration work) Location: Cyberjaya Job Description: 1. Network Design and Implementation: • Assist in the Metro-E migration process, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal service interruptions. • Implement and optimize Layer 2 & Layer 3 services, ensuring high availability and redundancy. • Configure and troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IS-IS, VRF, LACP, and other core network protocols. • Design and deploy VRF and Route Target configurations for customer segmentation and network scalability. • Ensure proper path selection using BGP attributes and Route Reflectors. • Configure and optimize L1/L2 routers and ensure seamless communication between them. 2. Network Maintenance and Troubleshooting: • Proactively monitor network performance to identify potential issues before they escalate. • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for network incidents related to IP networking and routing. • Work on MPLS and Metro-E services, ensuring optimized configurations for traffic flow. • Conduct BGP troubleshooting, including eBGP & IBGP configurations, attribute manipulations, and path selection analysis. • Address connectivity and latency issues related to L2/L3 networks. 3. Security and Compliance: • Ensure all network migrations and configurations adhere to security best practices. • Maintain compliance with industry standards (ISO, PCI-DSS, GDPR) related to network security. • Implement and review network access controls and encryption policies for secure communication. • Assist in security audits and compliance reporting for network-related activities. 4. Collaboration and Support: • Work closely with NOC, IT support, and project teams to ensure alignment with operational objectives. • Provide technical support to internal teams and assist in customer network issue resolution. • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate, select, and implement new technologies. • Document all network configurations, issues, and resolutions to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base. 5. Project Management: • Assist in planning and execution of Metro-E migration projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and milestones. • Maintain detailed project documentation, network diagrams, and change logs. • Identify potential risks during migration and implement mitigation strategies. • Continuously seek process improvements to enhance network reliability and performance. Knowledge & Technical skill requirement: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Networking-related field. • CCNA certification is required (CCNP preferred). • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in networking roles (Resident Engineer, Network Engineer, or similar). • Experience working in Metro-E environments, IP/MPLS networks, and enterprise-grade routing and switching. • Strong understanding of networking protocols and data communication technologies, including: 1. BGP (eBGP & IBGP), BGP attributes, path selection, Route Reflector 2. OSPF, MPLS, IS-IS, VRF, LACP 3. Layer 2 & Layer 3 services • VRF and Route Target functionality • Expertise in troubleshooting Metro-E, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS networks. • Knowledge of L1/L2 routers and how they communicate in network environments. • Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (Wireshark, PRTG, Nagios, SolarWinds, etc.). • Familiarity with network security principles, VPNs, firewalls, and access control measures. • Willing to be stationed on-site as a Resident Engineer. • Availability for on-call support and emergency troubleshooting. • Ability to work independently and handle network escalations effectively
