Job Summary
As a Sommelier at The Olive Tree Group, you will play a vital role in enhancing the guest experience by providing wine and beverage expertise. You’ll be responsible for curating a diverse and compelling wine list, recommending pairings that complement our menu, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience. A passion for wine, in-depth product knowledge, and the ability to convey that enthusiasm to guests are essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Wine Selection & Pairing
- Curate, maintain, and update the wine list, aligning with the culinary direction and guest preferences.
- Recommend wine pairings tailored to specific dishes and guest tastes.
- Oversee and manage inventory, ensuring an adequate selection of wines for service.
2. Guest Engagement
- Educate guests on wine selections and pairings, enhancing their dining experience.
- Offer personalized recommendations to guests, enhancing both wine knowledge and enjoyment.
3. Training & Staff Development
- Conduct wine training sessions for front-of-house staff, improving their product knowledge and confidence.
- Develop tasting notes and guidelines to support staff recommendations.
4. Wine Program Management
- Maintain relationships with wine distributors, negotiate pricing, and manage vendor contracts.
- Ensure all wines are stored and served under optimal conditions to maintain quality.
- Develop and manage a seasonal wine events calendar, creating opportunities for tastings and pairings.
5. Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain records of all wine sales and inventory, including cost analysis and reporting.
- Adhere to company policies and local regulations regarding alcohol service.
QUALIFICATION
Experience
- Proven experience as a sommelier, ideally in a fine dining or luxury setting.
- Strong understanding of wine regions, varietals, and wine-tasting techniques.
- Previous experience managing wine inventory and vendor relationships.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage guests and work collaboratively with the team.
- Strong organizational skills for managing inventory and record-keeping.
- Ability to remain professional and approachable, even in high-pressure situations.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
