Responsibilities
- Support the HSSE Manager, Plant Manager, and Operations team in planning, coordinating, and implementing HSE policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental (HSSE) standards and conduct hazard assessments.
- Assist in HSSE audits, inspections, and compliance monitoring for business and maintenance operations.
- Plan and attend HSSE-related meetings, providing reports as required.
- Develop and update project-specific HSSE procedures and reports for stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, including ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001:2015.
- Conduct site safety inspections, audits, and investigations of accidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
- Organise and conduct HSSE training and induction for new employees.
- Ensure contractors and workers comply with safety requirements and maintain safety files/records.
- Liaise with local authorities (DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, JPAM, PDRM, CIDB, KKM) on HSSE matters and assist in ad-hoc tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (OHSE) or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994 and the Environmental Quality Act 1974.
- 2–3 years of experience in HSSE functions, preferably in building maintenance, manufacturing, or warehousing.
- Familiarity with ISO, HSSE, or OHSAS certifications; OSH-C (Amendment Act 2022) or Green Book holder is preferred.
- Ability to conduct safety audits, fire drills, and crisis management programs.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and skilled in risk assessment and persuasion techniques.
