Kulliyyah (Faculty) : Kulliyyah of Science (KOS)
Location : International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuantan
The candidates shall be a member of the staff of the Department of Computational and Theoretical Sciences (CTS) assigned by KOS and the candidates shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and such other obligations as are normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM.
The candidates should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.
As a lecturer and member of the academic staff, the candidate is required to attend any meetings related to administrative positions they may hold. The staff is required to participate and contribute to the departments’ programs and events. This attendance is mandated by appointments made under the IIUM or through administrative directives issued by the Rector, Dean, or Head of the Kulliyyah/ Centre/ Department/ Institute/ Office/ Mahallah.

- Job requirements
- Minimum qualification: PhD in Financial Mathematics or related field from any international or local institutions of higher learning recognized by the Government or equivalent.
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in mathematics/financial mathematics or related fields from any international or local institutions of higher learning recognized by the Government or equivalent.
- Proficiency in R and Python for financial modelling and data analysis.
- Strong skills in Advanced Excel, including VBA, pivot tables, solver, macros, and financial modelling functions.
- Possess strong foundation in Financial Derivatives/ Fundamental Market Model and Portfolio Management/Future Markets or any related field in Financial Mathematics is highly desirable.
- Understanding of financial instruments, risk management, portfolio optimization, and quantitative trading strategies.
- Experience in applying mathematical and computational techniques in financial markets are added advantage.
- IT-savvy, able to work with multimedia and digital platforms.
- Able to work in a team.
- Evidence of active involvement in teaching/learning/supervision and research activities.

- Scope

- Curriculum Development: Design and update comprehensive CTS courses that reflect the latest industry trends, syllabus design and academic standards related to statistics/data analytics topics.
- Teaching responsibilities: Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, tutorials and course plans across a variety of CTS subjects on statistical/data analytics topics. Able to teach some other core mathematical subjects (if any) relevant to the departments’ needs.
- Student Assessment: Create and evaluate examinations, assignments, and projects to gauge student knowledge and skills, providing constructive feedback.
- Active involvement: Required to attend in any meetings and participating in any activities/events/programs organised by the department/Kulliyyah and contribute to the success of the programs.
- Research Contribution: Active in conducting research activities and publish impactful research in the CTS field and supervise Final Year Project (FYP), Mini projects, and Postgraduate students’ research projects, dissertations and theses.
- Professional Development: Remain current with technological advancements and pedagogical strategies through continued education and active participation in academic communities.
- Community and Industry Engagement: Collaborate with industry experts to ensure curriculum relevance and foster opportunities for student placements.
- Mentorship: Offer academic advice and personal mentorship to students, guiding them towards academic and professional success.
- Other Requirements
- Strong foundation in Financial Derivatives/ Fundamental Market Model and Portfolio Management/Future Markets or any related field in Financial Mathematics.

- Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
- IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidate without any of this qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
