Engineering Engineer – WWTP is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency of equipment, machinery, and facilities.

Experience in wet scrubber systems is a significant advantage. This role involves preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing improvement strategies to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • WWTP Operations & Maintenance
  • Oversee daily operations of the wastewater treatment plant to ensure efficient performance.
  • Monitor treatment processes, including biological, chemical, and physical treatment systems.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and implement corrective actions for plant efficiency.
  • Perform scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance on WWTP equipment.
  • Wet Scrubber Systems
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of wet scrubber systems for air pollution control in industrial environments.
  • Monitor scrubber performance, conduct troubleshooting, and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Regularly inspect scrubber components and coordinate necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Environmental Compliance & Regulatory Adherence
  • Ensure compliance with DOE (Department of Environment) Malaysia regulations and environmental standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of wastewater discharge parameters and submit reports to regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate with DOE and relevant authorities for audits, inspections, and licensing requirements.
  • Process Optimization & Improvement
  • Analyze wastewater treatment data to enhance plant performance and cost efficiency.
  • Implement improvements to reduce sludge production, chemical usage, and energy consumption.
  • Evaluate new wastewater treatment technologies and recommend upgrades.
  • Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Management
  • Enforce strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental (SHE) policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure all plant operators follow safety protocols.
  • Manage proper handling and disposal of sludge and other treatment by-products.
  • Team Coordination & Reporting
  • Supervise technicians and provide training on plant operations and safety measures.
  • Prepare reports on plant performance, maintenance activities, and compliance status.
  • Work closely with internal departments (e.g., production, quality, and engineering teams) to ensure smooth wastewater treatment operations.

Qualifications/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Mandatory Certifications:
    • Certified Environmental Professionals in the Operation of Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems (Physical Chemical Processes)-CePIETSO-PCP
    • Certified Environmental Professionals in the Operation of Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems (Biological Processes)-CePIETSO-BP.
  • Strong understanding of biological, chemical, and physical wastewater treatment processes.
  • Experience in wet scrubber systems is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with Malaysian DOE regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience in water quality monitoring, laboratory analysis, and report preparation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot plant issues and implement process optimizations.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and SAP
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment technologies.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and automation in WWTP operations.
