Role Summary:
The Learning Designer is responsible for supporting the development of engaging, high-quality digital learning experiences. This includes working with subject matter experts (SMEs) and faculty members to design and develop self-instructional content, multimedia learning activities, and managing course resources on the Learning Management System (LMS). The role also involves assisting the institution’s e-learning team in troubleshooting LMS-related issues and supporting broader e-learning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Course Development & Learning Design
- Work with faculty and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop self-instructional materials and structure courses on the LMS (CN).
- Create interactive and multimedia learning materials using the LMS and/or third-party tools.
- Assist in designing digital learning activities that enhance student learning experience.
- Ensure course content is optimized for accessibility, usability, and alignment with pedagogical best practices.
- Manage and update e-learning resources, including source files, templates, and course materials.
Learning Technology & Support
- Provide just-in-time support for faculty in leveraging on the LMS and learning tools to deliver an engaging digital learning experience.
- Assist in resolving LMS-related user issues, ensuring smooth course delivery and student engagement.
- Support the implementation of e-learning innovations and assist in the testing of new learning technologies.
- Document best practices and assist in developing e-learning user guides, FAQs, and training materials for faculty and students.
Administrative & Faculty Support
- Assist in faculty training sessions, onboarding briefings, and e-learning clinics.
- Support special projects aimed at enhancing the student learning experience.
- Maintain accurate records of course development progress, learning assets, and support logs.
- Participate in ad hoc administrative tasks related to faculty development and learning design initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Multimedia, English, Mass Comm, or related fields.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, H5P, or similar).
- Proficient in multimedia development, including video editing and graphic design (e.g. Canva).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and othe Ms productivity tools.
- Familiar with Learning Management Systems (LMS), preferably CN or similar platforms.
Soft Skills:
- Strong command of the English Language.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with faculty and team members.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to resolving learning technology issues.
Preferred Experience (not mandatory):
- Experience in developing e-learning content or managing online courses.
- Exposure to instructional design methodologies and learner engagement strategies.
