Program Manager - Casting
A Casting Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the casting process in manufacturing, ensuring that casting projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role involves coordinating with various teams, managing production schedules, overseeing technical aspects of casting operations, and ensuring effective communication between departments.
1. Program Planning & Coordination
- Develop and manage casting program plans to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Define program objectives, scope, timelines, and deliverables for casting projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements.
- Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, production, quality control, and procurement) and external suppliers to ensure all aspects of the casting process are covered.
- Oversee scheduling and resource allocation for casting projects, ensuring that necessary resources (personnel, materials, equipment) are available at the right time.
2. Casting Process Management
- Oversee the entire casting process, including mold design, pattern making, material selection, pouring, cooling, and finishing.
- Ensure that the casting process is optimized for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement best practices and industry standards in casting operations, focusing on improvements in quality, yield, and production timelines.
3. Collaboration with Design & Engineering Teams
- Work closely with design engineers and product development teams to ensure casting designs are feasible, cost-effective, and meet quality standards.
- Ensure that casting designs are optimized for manufacturability and meet customer specifications and industry standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to design teams regarding casting techniques, tooling, and material selection.
4. Supplier & Vendor Management
- Manage relationships with casting suppliers and vendors, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials and components.
- Evaluate and select casting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors for tooling, molds, and other external services required for the casting process.
5. Quality Control & Assurance
- Ensure that casting products meet quality standards by collaborating with the quality control team to establish testing and inspection protocols.
- Review and analyze quality control data from casting tests, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for any defects or quality issues in the casting process.
- Maintain compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM) and customer-specific quality requirements.
6. Cost Management & Budgeting
- Develop and manage budgets for casting projects, ensuring that they stay within financial constraints.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction in materials, labor, and equipment usage without compromising quality or timelines.
- Track and report on costs and variances throughout the duration of the casting program, providing regular updates to senior management.
7. Risk Management & Problem Solving
- Identify potential risks to casting projects (e.g., supply chain disruptions, technical challenges, quality issues) and develop mitigation strategies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the casting process, whether related to equipment, materials, or production schedules.
- Implement contingency plans to address unforeseen delays or technical challenges, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and costs.
8. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and other casting personnel, ensuring that everyone is aligned with program goals.
- Provide training and development opportunities for team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence in casting.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to ensure that team members meet program objectives and quality standards.
9. Customer & Stakeholder Communication
- Maintain communication with customers to ensure that their casting requirements are met and that they are satisfied with the product and service.
- Provide regular updates on program status, issues, and milestones to internal stakeholders (e.g., senior management, other departments).
- Coordinate customer approvals for prototypes, samples, and final products, ensuring that all feedback is incorporated into the final casting design.
10. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in casting operations to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Promote the adoption of new technologies or methods in casting, such as additive manufacturing, automation, or advanced material science.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to drive operational excellence.
11. Compliance & Environmental Management
- Ensure that all casting processes comply with environmental regulations, safety standards, and industry-specific requirements.
- Develop and implement environmental sustainability initiatives related to material usage, waste management, and energy consumption in casting operations.
- Monitor and ensure workplace safety, implementing appropriate measures to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM13,000.00 per month
