Cloud Solution Architect
1. Job Summary:
The Cloud Solution Architect will be a pivotal leader in the Bank's digital transformation journey. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, operating and managing the Bank's public cloud infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business goals, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices. The Cloud Solution Architect will play a crucial role in enabling the Bank to develop and deploy innovative digital banking products and services, create new revenue streams, and enhance customer experience. The role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills to work effectively with various stakeholders across the organization.
2. Key Responsibilities:
2.1 Cloud Strategy and Architecture:
· Develop and maintain the Bank's overall cloud strategy (public, private, hybrid) in alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements (including BNM's Risk Management in Technology (RMiT) guidelines).
· Design and architect secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions on platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (considering multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud approaches).
· Lead the migration of existing on-premise applications and infrastructure to the cloud, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
· Implement and manage cloud infrastructure components, including compute, storage, networking, databases, and security services.
· Establish and enforce cloud governance, security policies, and best practices (e.g., data residency, encryption, access control) compliant with Malaysian regulations.
· Assist to build and improve Cloud FinOps practice within the bank and oversee cloud cost optimization and resource utilization.
· Stay abreast about cloud IaaS, PaaS and SaaS offerings, and recommend best fit for bank.
2.2 Digital Transformation Leadership:
· Collaborate with business stakeholders (e.g., product owners, digital banking teams) to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
· Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams on cloud-native development and best practices.
· Champion the adoption of DevOps practices and automation to accelerate delivery and improve efficiency.
· Research and evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., serverless computing, containerization, AI/ML) and their potential application to the Bank's digital initiatives.
· Contribute to the development of new digital banking business models and revenue streams by leveraging cloud capabilities.
2.3 Security and Compliance:
· Ensure that all cloud environments created comply with relevant regulations, including BNM guidelines (RMiT, PDPA – Personal Data Protection Act), and industry standards (e.g., PCI DSS).
· Implement robust security measures, including identity and access management (IAM), data encryption, vulnerability management, and threat detection.
· Work closely with the Bank's cybersecurity team to ensure the ongoing security and resilience of the cloud infrastructure.
· Participate and successfully complete required audit programs.
2.4 Vendor Management:
· Evaluate and select cloud technology vendors, negotiating contracts and managing relationships.
· Ensure that vendor solutions meet the Bank's requirements for security, performance, and scalability.
3. Qualifications:
· Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any related field.
· Minimum of 15 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years of experience in cloud architecture design, implementation, management and operations.
· Proven experience in designing, implementing, managing and operating cloud solutions on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, AliBaba Cloud, etc).
· Experience in the financial services industry is highly desirable.
· Experience with digital transformation initiatives and agile methodologies.
· Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect) are required.
· Expertise in IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, FaaS, etc.
· Good understanding on DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, IaC, SRE.
· Experience in leading, coaching and managing junior direct reports.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work effectively in both individual capacity and in a team environment, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
· Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).
· Strong understanding of Malaysian financial sector regulations and compliance requirements.
