The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of process engineering within the department, ensuring efficient and effective manufacturing processes that meet quality, cost, and delivery targets. Roles, Responsibilities and Job Expectations

Process Development & Optimization:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct process capability studies, root cause analysis, and design of experiments (DOE) to identify and eliminate process bottlenecks.
  • Develop and implement process flow diagrams, work instructions, and other process documentation.
  • Optimize production processes to improve yield, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.
  • Investigate and implement new technologies and equipment to improve process efficiency and productivity.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Analyze process data to identify and address quality issues.
  • Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures.
  • Conduct process audits and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage process improvement projects, including new product introductions and process upgrades.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets for process engineering projects.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion within budget.
  • Lead process engineering activities related to product relocation projects, ensuring smooth and efficient transfer of production processes to new locations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new processes for customer-specific prototypes, ensuring manufacturability and meeting customer requirements.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of process engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the process engineering team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
  • Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as production, quality control, maintenance, and R&D, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Safety & Environmental:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety and environmental hazards.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Competencies and Skills

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment related to rubber products manufacturing via moulding process.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, FMEA and DOE.
  • Experience with new production line setup involving machine, hiring, training, process qualification till mass production.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management skills.Familiar with Vulcanization process.

Special Skills (such as special certifications)

  • Lean Six Sigma Green/ Black Belt
