Main Responsibilities:-

  • Interpret prosecution and court data using scientific analysis and statistical techniques. This includes (but not limited to):
  1. Generating basic statistics for preliminary data assessment.
  2. Using social network analysis (SNA) to find relationships between entities.
  3. Using multi-variable regression model to assess parameter influence.
  • Assist in the collection of prosecution data to be stored in the internal database. This includes (but is not limited to):
  1. Automating data collection processes from external online sources.
  2. Conduct meticulous, routine data cleaning and consolidation.
  • Assist in the production of reports and presentations to inform JWM’s wildlife conservation strategies related to wildlife legislation across Malaysia.
  • Ensure that all assigned activities are consistent with the project schedule and that all outputs are delivered on time and at the desired quality.

Prior Experience:-

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), preferably in computer science, mathematics, data science, or software engineering. Professional programming certification in lieu of an academic degree is acceptable. 1-2 years of programming experience is essential.
  • Proficiency with statistics and dataset analytics using R, Python, or any other open-source statistical software.
  • Interest in wildlife conservation in Malaysia and the Malaysian criminal justice system or descriptive social science study is essential.
  • Experience in descriptive social science study is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MS Office software and collaborative virtual platforms (Google Suite and Dropbox) is essential.
  • Ability to work under moderate pressure, with adaptability to last-minute changes and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate well and professionally with team members, stakeholders, and members of the public.
