Overview

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Power Electronics Engineering Specialist to join the Equipment Consulting Services Department (ECSD), Electrical Engineering Division (EED). The ECSD power electronics engineer is recognized as an expert in the field, and is responsible for providing expert advice and assistance to Company organizations, outside vendors, manufacturers, and design firms on matters relating to technologies, engineering expertise, support and consultation in the area of power electronics.

The incumbent will provide technical expertise in the development of new processes and solutions in response to unusual operating and maintenance power electronics challenges. This will include assets, such as adjustable frequency drives (AFD), uninterruptible power supply, rectifiers, DC/DC converters, batteries and solar system; including solar inverter and solar panels. The incumbent role also includes identifying pertinent new technologies to enhance company profitability and productivity. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and incorporating cost-effective design solutions within Saudi Aramco engineering standards and design best practices, and will undertakes special assignments requiring extensive technical experience and discretion when dealing with outside organizations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide general engineering consultations in the area of UPS/DC systems, Power Electronics, and AFDs to field operations such as refineries, gas plants, terminals, on an as needed basis
  • Plan, schedule, and provide clear work direction, while ensuring efficiency, adequacy and conformance of overall scope and objectives, in addressing engineering challenges.
  • Write company, procedures and best practices in area of expertise. Serve on international standards writing bodies as opportunity allows.
  • Provide consultation and reviews for capital project developments reviewing engineering design packages. Attend project review meetings in or out of the Kingdom, as needed.
  • Introduce new technology that would boost company profitability and productivity.
  • Represent Saudi Aramco in dealings with vendors, manufacturers and/or design firms where expert engineering advice in area of expertise is required.
  • Share knowledge and experience with, as well as mentor, junior and developing engineers within the company in the area of power electronics.

Requirements

  • BS in electrical engineering. MS or other advanced professional engineering degree is highly desirable. Professional Engineer (PE) license or registration is highly desirable.
  • At least Ten (10) years of professional experience, including years as an engineer responsible for technical work in his field of specialty, in the area of VFDs, UPS and DC systems, preferably in Oil and Gas industry.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and be willing to transfer implicit knowledge to specialists and engineers in his field, and have flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally.
