Release and Environment Analyst
Job Overview
The Release and Environment Analyst plays a key role in coordinating with various delivery teams to ensure the seamless deployment of releases into production and the efficient management of our environments.
Dimensions
Financial: This role does not have direct responsibility for budget or revenue but is expected to continuously evaluate the costs associated with our Release and Environment processes, providing recommendations to enhance efficiency and achieve cost savings.
People: This role does not include direct reports but requires close collaboration with various teams across IT and other departments to ensure the seamless delivery of releases and effective use of non-production environments.
Impact: This role will facilitate the progression of Business and IT changes through delivery pipelines into production and support. It will play a key part in influencing the speed of delivery, the quality of changes, and the overall cost efficiency of the process.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Release Schedule, monitoring progress across various delivery pipelines, including B2C and B2B eCommerce, Order to Cash, Finance, HR, Retail Operations, and Logistics.
- Plan and coordinate system maintenance activities across the application landscape, such as SAP updates and operating system patching.
- Organize and lead Go-No-Go meetings, ensuring all governance procedures are followed prior to deploying releases to production.
- Collaborate with the Change and Release Manager to ensure all Change Management processes are completed for each release.
- Work with delivery teams to facilitate the smooth transition of new IT services into support operations.
- Maintain and update the Environment and Application Repository, tracking usage by delivery teams and managing updates for newly implemented or decommissioned items.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to identify new environment requirements and oversee their delivery according to agreed timelines.
- Manage communications with environment users regarding unplanned outages and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Plan and coordinate the refresh of data within non-production environments as needed.
Qualifications
- Over 5 years of experience in supporting Release and/or Environment Management processes within complex enterprise IT landscapes.
- Strong understanding of enterprise IT architecture and infrastructure, with a preference for experience in cloud-based eCommerce and retail channels.
- ITIL v4 certification.
- Proficient in using:
- IT Service Management tools such as ServiceNow, JiraSM, or IFS Assyst.
- Delivery workflow tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Development tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Skilled in technical problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Proven experience in planning and coordinating technical activities across multiple teams.
- Ability to understand, document, and communicate complex IT issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred experience in working with or supporting SAP systems.
- Solid understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies.
