This key role involves managing corporate communications, media relations, and public affairs efforts, developing and maintaining strong relationships with media outlets, and overseeing the creation of compelling content for internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with senior leadership to drive communication strategies that support business objectives, handle crisis communications, and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
What You Will Be Doing
To strategically support Group Chief Sustainability and Communications Officer in all corporate communications, media and events management related matters, with the following key areas of coverage:
- Corporate Communications and Media Relations
- Assist in developing the Group’s corporate visibility strategy and roadmap, working in collaboration with the Group in achieving high brand visibility and positive tonality (measured through its ROI and other brand survey or focus group)
- Develop news worthy and compelling contents working in collaboration that will drive brand image and promote high visibility
- Drafting, editing, proofreading, internal and external communications material, including but not limited to media material, speeches, messages, articles, announcements, notices and all other forms of communications
- Identify appropriate communication platforms or channel that will connect to the target audience or relevant customer base in line with the Group’s Business Plan
- Manage relationship with the media, locally and regionally
- To utilize media monitoring tool and analytics with the objective of identifying opportunities and managing gaps
- Work with Customer Experience team in promoting positive perception and managing negative perception among customers
- Events Management
- Provide leadership to the Events Management team
- Plan, lead, and manage expectations for corporate and business-related events across the Group
- Manage the provision of internal events management services across the Group, including consultation and guidance
- Identify appropriate opportunities to strengthen the Group’s visibility through business and corporate events
- Review of event-related material to ensure appropriateness and maximization of benefits accruing to the Group
- Crisis communications
- Manage crisis communications as part of the Group’s Crisis Management Plan
- Governance
- Ensure the adoption of appropriate governance in the performance of day to day functions, by putting in place appropriate policies, process and procedures which includes compliance to Group policy on procurement of goods and services
- Publications
- Production of Integrated Report and Sustainability Report, in compliance with regulatory requirement and industry /international best practices;
- Evaluation of requests for articles and other material submissions by external publications – including development, review, proofreading and creating editorial content
- 15 years’ relevant work experience in a position requiring the knowledge and application of strategic communications, along with writing for an external audience (samples of work required)
- Experience in creative and strategic thinking, oral communication, writing, editing and effective dissemination of information to wide audiences
- Knowledge of public relations, media issues, practices as well as communications strategies and implementation
- Experience in managing business and corporate events
- Ability to work independently and in teams;
- Strong written and oral communications skills;
- Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Other languages optional;
- Knowledge and experience in communications, web and social media tools (e.g. Word Press, SEO, You Tube, Facebook, etc.).
