Country HR Operations Director

The Country HR Operations Director will be responsible for leading the daily operations of the Human Resources Shared Services Center (SSC) at the Kuala Lumpur branch office. This role ensures efficient HR processes, compliance with local labor regulations, and alignment with the headquarters' HR strategies. The incumbent will play a crucial role in payroll management, employee engagement, training, and fostering a strong connection between the local team and headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Operations & Compliance
- Lead the daily operations of the HR Shared Services Center, ensuring smooth execution of employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee file management.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulatory requirements by liaising with government agencies such as the Social Security Organization (SOCSO), Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Labor Department, and Tax Authorities.
- Oversee payroll processing for the Kuala Lumpur office, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in refining and implementing HR policies and procedures to support business objectives and ensure compliance.
Training & Employee Development
- Collaborate with headquarters to enhance the training system for the Kuala Lumpur branch office.
- Organize and conduct training programs, including new employee orientation and job-specific skills development, to improve employees' professional competencies.
- Ensure continuous learning and development initiatives that align with business needs.
Employee Engagement & Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison between local employees and headquarters, facilitating effective communication and alignment.
- Foster a positive work environment by building and maintaining strong employee relations.
- Plan and organize team-building activities, cultural exchange programs, and other initiatives to enhance team cohesion.
- Act as the local spokesperson for HR policies, addressing employee inquiries and providing timely feedback to headquarters.
Reporting & HR Systems Enhancement
- Regularly compile and report HR data and workforce dynamics to headquarters to support strategic decision-making.
- Assist in refining and improving HR systems and processes to align with the local branch’s business operations and growth objectives.
Key Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of HR experience, preferably in a regional or shared services environment.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian labor laws, employment regulations, and payroll administration.
- Experience in liaising with government agencies such as SOCSO, EPF, and tax authorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities, with a proactive approach to HR operations and employee engagement.
- Proficiency in HRIS, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Fluency in English and Malay; proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
