Assistant Interior Designer (Construction Housing)

Key Responsibilities: Collaborating with Senior Interior Designers: Assist senior interior designers in the conceptualization, design, and development of interior spaces for residential housing projects. Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop ideas and provide input on design concepts. Space Planning and Layout: Help in the creation of space planning layouts, ensuring that rooms, furniture, and fixtures are effectively arranged for functionality and aesthetics. Conduct on-site measurements to verify dimensions and ensure accurate space planning. Material and Product Selection: Assist in selecting materials, finishes, colors, furniture, fixtures, and other design elements that align with the housing project’s theme and client needs. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source materials and products, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Preparing Design Presentations: Prepare mood boards, color palettes, 3D renderings, and other design visuals to present ideas to clients or project stakeholders. Use design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit to produce detailed drawings and design plans. Coordinating with Contractors and Vendors: Serve as a liaison between the design team, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth communication and project execution. Ensure that materials and finishes are in accordance with the design specifications and project requirements. Site Visits and Inspections: Conduct site visits to oversee the progress of construction and ensure the interior design elements are being implemented correctly. Assist in resolving any design-related issues or discrepancies during construction. Budget and Scheduling Assistance: Support the senior designer in managing the project budget by tracking costs for materials, furnishings, and finishes. Help with scheduling timelines for the procurement of materials, product delivery, and installation. Ensuring Compliance with Building Codes and Regulations: Assist in ensuring that the design complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and accessibility standards. Help in coordinating any necessary inspections related to interior design and construction. Client Communication: Assist in communicating with clients to understand their preferences, answer questions, and present design proposals. Document client feedback and make revisions as needed to meet client expectations. Documentation and Reporting: Organize and maintain project documents, including design plans, contracts, and receipts for purchases. Assist in preparing reports and progress updates for the senior design team or clients.
