Assistant Vice President, Data Analytics
Job Purpose
The jobholder will lead the data analytics initiatives to drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role involves overseeing the collection, analysis, and interpretation of large datasets to provide actionable insights that support business decision and objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, and data analytics strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Acquire and maintain data from primary and secondary sources.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Provide ongoing reports by interpreting data and analyzing results using statistical techniques.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
Experience Analysis
- Enhance portfolio monitoring modules and review analytics results.
- Communicate relevant information to stakeholders, including exposure and loss analytics, key driver of risk, and portfolio impact.
- Perform competitive analysis regarding rates and key features.
Data Management
- Ensure data quality and integrity across all analytics processes.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify data needs and deliver insights that drive business decisions.
- Oversee the collection, processing, and analysis of large datasets from various sources.
- Work with management to prioritize business and information needs and identify new process improvement opportunities.
Training & Development
- Lead and manage the data analytics teams, providing mentorship and development opportunities.
- Participate in training programs and pursue continuous professional development in data analytics/science.
- Provide training and knowledge sharing sessions to the team.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data analytics and implement best practices.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, insurance, business studies, risk management or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in data analytics and data management for group strategy unit.
- Strong proficiency in data analytics tools and software such as SQL, Python, R, and Tableau
- In depth knowledge of data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
- Experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (eg. Excel, SPSS, SAS)
- Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms is a plus.
- Working experience in insurance or takaful industry is an advantage.
