About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Facility Operation Lead / Assistant Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the data centre's facility to ensure smooth operations of the data centre.
Main Duties
- Establish, mentor, and lead a Facility Operations team to maintain, repair, and manage all critical and non-critical infrastructure systems within the data centre. Foster best practices in training, performance, and development of the Operations team.
- Collaborate with Construction and Design teams during the build phase to ensure operational requirements are integrated, ensuring a seamless transition to Facility Operations. Participate in commissioning (Integrated System Tests) for new (greenfield) and retrofitted (brownfield) data centres.
- Work closely with peer teams to identify infrastructure engineering changes, define project scopes, prioritize tasks, schedule, and execute improvements efficiently.
- Develop, review, and enforce operational standards, Sequences of Operation (SOO), and Methods of Procedure (MOP) to ensure system reliability and consistency.
- Coordinate and monitor vendor activities, ensuring compliance with the agreed scope of work and adherence to established procedures.
- Implement innovative solutions to reduce operational costs and maximize infrastructure utilization without compromising reliability and performance.
- Prepare detailed post-incident reports, conduct root cause analyses, and develop corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements by maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Manage all strategic and tactical aspects of facilities management, including electrical, mechanical, monitoring, control systems, and asset management operations.
- Support and input into the annual Operations budgets for contracts, ensuring financial accountability and providing periodic activity and statistical reports.
- Ensure contractually agreed SLAs and KPIs within the scope of work (SOW) are met and maintain a high level of customer focus in all operational activities.
- Regularly update and refine practices and standards for data centre operations to align with evolving industry requirements.
Minimum Qualification & Minimum Years of Experience
- Educational Background: Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Facilities Engineering.
- Experience: 10 to 15 years of proven hands-on experience in data centre facility operations, focusing on critical infrastructure (power systems, fan and liquid cooling, EMS, BMS CMMS/DCIM etc) in data centres or similar mission-critical environments.
- Linguistic and Certification: LEW (Licensed Electrical Worker) certification or equivalent as well as ability to read/write/converse in Mandarin will have added advantage.
- Project Management: Experience managing complex projects with relevant project management certification (e.g., PMP or PRINCE2).
- Collaborative Skills: Proven experience in cross-functional collaboration within operational and engineering teams.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of industry standards, building codes, and safety protocols, including NFPA, ASHRAE, and other relevant guidelines.
- Leadership: Extensive experience managing personnel, including staffing, training, and scheduling, in 24/7 operational environments.
