About the Role
The Safety and Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to all relevant safety regulations under DOSH (Department of Safety and Health), CAAM (Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia), DOA (Department of Agriculture), and DOE (Department of Environment). The role involves developing, implementing, and continuously monitoring safety programs, coordinating with regulatory authorities, and conducting audits to mitigate risks and ensure organizational compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations set by DOSH, CAAM, DOA, and DOE.
- Implement and monitor policies to ensure organizational adherence to these regulations.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities for inspections, audits, and obtaining necessary certifications.
Safety Program Development & Management:
- Develop, implement, and regularly evaluate safety programs that align with the standards and regulations of DOSH, CAAM, DOA, and DOE.
- Propose and implement improvements to safety policies and processes based on audit findings, risk assessments, and regulatory changes.
Audits and Risk Assessments:
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Regularly update risk management plans and ensure proactive measures are in place.
Incident Investigation & Reporting:
- Oversee and coordinate investigations into safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
- Document and report findings of investigations to DOSH, CAAM, DOA, DOE, and other relevant authorities as required.
- Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of incidents and promote a safe working environment.
Continuous Improvement:
- Actively monitor and review safety practices and policies for continuous improvement in safety management.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices, ensuring that policies and procedures are adjusted accordingly.
