Position Title: Intern, Education, Research and Development

Reports to: Senior Manager, Impact & Continuous Learning

Duration: 6 months

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in the Global Support Centre

The Intern, Education, Research and Development will play a supporting role in the Education, Research and Development (ERD) Practice Team, a global team responsible for developing education and capacity building programs, to manage data and knowledge, and to measure impact and learnings. The Intern will support tasks related to research and knowledge management, as well as monitoring and evaluation, for World Scouting.


Responsibilities

  • Undertake data collection, analysis, and interpretation to support ERD team’s projects including but not limited to:

    • Baseline measurement of the Key Performance Indicators of the World Triennial Plan

    • Observatory of trends related to Scouting

    • Database of research articles

    • Youth Leadership development

  • Manage and analyse data from the Learning Zone, WOSM’s repository of documents and resources

  • Support the transformation of data and research into relevant, engaging and informative communications for various target audiences

Qualification and skills

  • Experience in conducting or assisting research projects, including designing data collection tools, undertaking data collection, analysis, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, or other relevant fields

  • Hands-on experience in knowledge management or monitoring and evaluation would be advantageous

  • Acquainted with data visualisation and communication using data

Personal Qualities

  • Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaborate with team members

  • Experience working in an international or multicultural context is an asset

  • Able to engage with multiple and diverse stakeholders

  • Professionalism and work ethic, proactive, solutions-oriented and creative

  • Flexibility to work on different topics and themes

  • Having an understanding of the audience’s needs for research products

Terms and Conditions

WSB offers a range of tangible and intangible internship benefits:

  • This internship is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

  • The WSB will cover the following expenses (if applicable):

    • Visa processing costs.

    • Economy class return flight from the home country to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

    • Stipend to cover meals and incidentals.

    • Local health insurance.

    • Accommodation during the internship (shared apartment with other interns).

Contractual working hours are 40 hours per week. The succesful candidate must willing to work during he evenings and on weekends, when necessary, for which reasonable time off in lieu may be given. A limited time allowance for coursework on a weekly basis can be discussed.

The intern will be entitled to 12 days of leave per annum prorated to the duration of the contract plus public holidays in the country where the position is based.
