JOB PURPOSE:
- Execute direct tax compliances and assist with tax planning to minimise Group Tax liabilities and ensure all global direct tax compliances are met.
- Support in providing appropriate tax advice relating to MISC Group’s international tax strategy and transfer pricing model, co-ordinating external advice as necessary to create and maintain an optimum tax structure and minimizing the Group’s direct tax cost and exposure.
- Conduct research on tax issues to resolve them practically and to highlight tax requirements, risks and opportunities.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Tax Compliance & Regulations
- Prepare and execute the corporate tax compliances for the Group to ensure accurate, complete and timely submission of corporate tax returns across MISC Group (e.g. submission of annual tax filing, tax estimates etc.)
- Prepare Transfer Pricing Documentation and assist with Group Transfer pricing model across MISC Group.
- Attend to the tax authorities’ requests in a tax audit exercise. This includes co-ordinating meetings/discussions with relevant stakeholders, preparing response to the tax authorities and follow up for closure of audit.
- Ensure other relevant regulatory and compliance matters are duly adhered are completed and submitted to the relevant authority within the stipulated time frame.
- Conduct research and provide recommendations in improvement opportunities in tax compliance process and implementation of related process changes.
Tax Planning/Optimisation
- Conduct research and compile information with regards to taxation matters for tax planning/optimisation opportunities and strategies across MISC Group.
- Assist the Manager to provide planning advice for the Group (inclusive of new business set-ups) to minimize the Group’s tax liability.
- Assist with assessing implications of new tax rulings and legislations and provide recommendations for Groupwide applications.
Tax Advisory & Consultancy
- Provide ad-hoc advice on direct tax-related matters raised by management and authorities.
- Provide specialised tax advice on projects, covering:
- Project Structure
- Withholding tax
- Tax incentives/exemptions etc.
- Transfer pricing
- RPGT
- Stamp duty
Tax Query
- Provide guidance on queries from Finance fraternity or other departments, such as:
- Relevant tax clauses for various contracts for MISC and subsidiaries
- Other taxation queries
Periodic Health Check
- Execute on-site tasks risks assessment and assess and present report findings with action required to relevant parties.
- Collaborate with other departments where relevant to direct non-compliance issues noted to appropriate channels for investigation and resolution.
Group Tax Knowledge Sharing/Awareness sessions
- Support in preparing content and presentation pack for tax update/ sharing session with the Finance fraternity.
- Support to advise Tax / Finance fraternity or relevant employees of the group on new laws / rulings / precedents / case laws, etc. to ensure compliance and to increase awareness.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 - 7 years of working experience in taxation field (specifically in indirect tax)
QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or equivalent, with accounting/finance background and/or strong working knowledge in Tax/Finance/Financial Reporting.
