Get to know the role:

Responsible for assuming the overall ownership for Financial Risk Management of the Bank by ensuring an optimal balance sheet structure is maintained within the regulatory constraints such as BNM / Basel capital and liquidity requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team to develop and implement a strategy, framework and plan and associated policies, standards and procedures to drive, promote and maintain a strong Financial Risk culture within the business. This includes Liquidity Risk, Market Risk, Capital Management and Credit Risk.
  • Provide strategic direction to the Bank’s senior management team on financial risk matters and oversee the associated systems and controls, to ensure management of associated current and future risks.
  • Monitor and test the Bank’s financial risk profile, including limits and early warning indicators, to ensure we remain within Board-approved risk appetite.
  • Review and challenge data including data relating to regulatory reporting and monitoring.
  • Develop and manage regulatory reporting for submission to BNM.
  • Development, coordination and delivery of financial risk management information and intelligence about developments and prospective financial risks and exposures in the portfolio and deliver these in a timely manner to Senior Management, Board, and auditors as required.
  • Ensure and, where appropriate, conduct internal financial risk reviews, audits, investigations and monitoring activities, including periodic reviews of functions, and ensure all actions from audits and reviews, including internal and regulatory audits, are implemented.

Job Requirements & Criteria:

  • At least a Bachelor's Degree in any field of study.
  • At least 10 years of Financial risk management experience covering Market Risk, Liquidity Risk, Capital Management and Credit Risk within a Financial Institution.
  • Strong knowledge of risk identification, assessment, and frameworks.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to work under pressure..
  • Strong understanding of digital lending technologies, credit scoring models, and alternative data sources.
  • In-depth knowledge of Malaysian regulatory requirements and guidelines pertaining to credit risk management, including those issued by BNM.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact with senior executives, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Leadership capabilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams, drive results, and foster a collaborative work environment.
