The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.
The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees to which he, being an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member by virtue of the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or of any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/ Department.
The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community.
The officer is also expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).6. Language Qualifications

- Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and perform teaching activities for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students during clinical sessions to ensure they follow proper procedures and protocols.
- Conduct and publish original research contributing to the scientific literature and evidence-based practice.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research projects and thesis work.
- Stay current with the latest developments in orthodontics through continuous professional development and participation in academic conferences.
- Treat patient and provide orthodontic services within the dental school/university.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinics, especially those involving orthognathic surgery, cleft lip/palate, and complex restorative cases.
- Ensure compliance with all clinical governance and patient safety protocols.
- Participate in curriculum development and review, ensuring course content remains current and meets accreditation standards.

- Serve on departmental and faculty committees related to education, research, and clinical service.
- Contribute to student assessment and examination processes, including question setting, vetting, and grading.
- Assist in selection and admission of postgraduate orthodontic residents.
- Participate in professional organizations and societies related orthodontic and dental education.
- Review manuscripts for academic journals and contribute to professional publications.
- Engage in outreach activities to promote oral health and orthodontic awareness.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Candidate must possess Bachelor in Dental Surgery or equivalent qaulification recognized by Malaysia Dental Council.
- Registered in Malaysia Dental Counsil (MDC) and holds current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
- A minimum of two (2) years clinical practice after a basic degree.
- Minimum Competencies
- Ability to inspire students with your passion.
- Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
- A willingness to engage in continuous learning and development, particularly in areas of teaching and research.
- Adherence to high standards of ethical practice and professionalism in both clinical and academic settings.
- Ability to manage time effectively, balancing clinical duties, teaching responsibilities, and administrative tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and community members.
- Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
- IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidate without any of these qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
