Job Summary
Our Client, is urgently hiring for a Commercial Executive (Trade Finance) to join their company. Our Client is an international trading company - specializing in steel, food products, and other commodities. The successful candidate will be based in Kuala Lumpur and will be responsible for managing all trade finance, commercial documentation, and banking transactions related to the company’s operations.
This role requires close liaison with banks, regulatory authorities, suppliers, and buyers to ensure smooth trade operations. Candidates who are able to start immediately or within a month are highly preferred.
Note: This position is open to Malaysian and Labuan candidates willing to relocate to Kuala Lumpur to handle all banking and trade finance matters on behalf of the Labuan entity.
Key Role & Responsibilities
This role encompasses various trade finance and regulatory responsibilities.
1. Handle All Commercial Documentation and Communication Related to Export and Import
o Manage trade-related paperwork such as bills of lading, letters of credit, invoices, shipping documents, customs clearance paperwork, and purchase orders.
o Ensure accuracy and compliance with international trade regulations and Malaysian import/export laws.
o Maintain records of transactions for reporting, audits, and legal purposes.
2. Communicate Effectively with Suppliers and Buyers
o Serve as the liaison between suppliers, buyers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth trade operations.
o Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate better pricing and favorable trade terms.
o Address any trade discrepancies, delays, or disputes in a timely manner.
o Provide updates to management on trade transactions and order status.
3. Possess Knowledge of Banking Activities Related to Commercial Transactions
o Manage and oversee all banking-related activities for the Labuan entity from Kuala Lumpur.
o Handle financial transactions such as letters of credit (LCs), international payments, bank guarantees, and currency exchange considerations.
o Liaise with banks and financial institutions to ensure smooth trade financing, regulatory compliance, and documentation.
o Ensure that all transactions align with Malaysian and international banking regulations.
4. Liaise with Various Local Authorities and External Affairs as Required
o Coordinate with customs authorities, trade regulators, and government bodies for compliance with import/export laws.
o Ensure that all transactions follow the Labuan and Malaysian commercial regulations.
o Address any legal or bureaucratic matters that arise related to the company's business activities.
o Represent the company in discussions with regulatory bodies or at industry meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements
· Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia in both spoken & written is a mandatory requirement
· A Diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, International Business, Supply Chain Management OR in any related field
· Minimum 2 years of experience in a trade finance, commercial, or banking-related role.
· Strong understanding of trade finance instruments, including LCs, bank guarantees, and international payments.
· Experience dealing with banks, financial institutions, and trade regulatory bodies.
· Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
· Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced trade environment.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Work Arrangements
· Location: Office-based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
· Working Hours:
Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Salary Range
RM 4,000 – RM 6,000 (gross/basic – commensurate with experience & qualifications)
