Job Title: Business Development Executive (Marine Industry)

ENERGY WORKFORCE is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Executive to join our growing team in the marine industry. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in marine inspections, including hull gauging, NDT, rope access services, and manpower supply. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with ship owners, agents, and ports, and a deep understanding of marine industry standards and inspection requirements.

We are registered with the following 8 classification societies:
ABS, DNV, RINA, BV, NK, ACM, KR, LR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify & Target New Business Opportunities: Focus on building relationships and identifying leads within ship owners, agents, ports, and other stakeholders who require marine inspections (hull gauging, NDT, rope access services, manpower supply) for vessel maintenance and safety.
  • Sales & KPI Achievement: Meet monthly and yearly sales targets and KPIs. Play a key role in driving revenue and business growth by securing contracts with maritime clients and ensuring the company’s services are well-positioned in the market.
  • Client Liaison & Relationship Building: Develop long-term relationships with ship owners, agents, and ports. Work closely with both new and existing clients to understand their inspection and manpower needs and provide solutions based on their specific requirements.
  • Tender Management & Documentation: Support major tenders, ensuring that all required documents, quotations, and technical clarifications are provided to clients in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Market Research & Strategic Development: Conduct thorough market research to stay ahead of trends in the marine industry and ensure the company’s services meet the changing demands of the market. Identify new business areas and recommend strategies for expansion.
  • Inspection Service Expertise: Provide technical support and advice on various inspection services, including hull gauging, NDT, rope access services, and manpower supply. Work closely with internal technical teams to ensure services meet required industry standards and client expectations.
  • Forecasting & Reporting: Provide bi-weekly sales forecasts and progress reports to the management team. Ensure transparency and accountability by delivering accurate reports and updates on business activities.
  • Client Satisfaction: Ensure ongoing client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle, addressing concerns and providing regular updates on the status of inspections and services.
  • Travel Flexibility: Occasionally travel across Malaysia to meet clients, conduct inspections, or attend relevant industry events.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year in business development, sales, or marketing in the marine industry, preferably in marine inspections, hull gauging, NDT, rope access services, and manpower supply.
  • Experience working with ship owners, agents, and ports is crucial, with a proven track record in managing relationships and securing business in the marine sector.
  • Knowledge of the classification societies (ABS, DNV, RINA, BV, NK, ACM, KR, LR) and understanding of relevant marine inspection standards is essential.
  • Education:
  • A degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong communication skills in both Bahasa Malaysia and English, spoken and written.
  • Proven ability to engage with senior executives and decision-makers within the maritime industry.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Technical knowledge of marine inspections and associated services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM software.
  • Ability to analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to develop business strategies.
  • Personal Attributes:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to meet clients across Malaysia.
